WAD Up! for World AIDS Day

We are running a 2-month online initiative for World AIDS Day (WAD), called WAD Up!

This initiative aims to not only raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, but also breakdown the stigma associated. How can you do that? You need to get people talking about HIV.

So, we decided to use web 2.0 tools to use technology to our advantage - Facebook, Youtube , wordpress, even skype.

What you can do:

i) Invite friends to the facebook cause - the more people, the bigger the community, the more people we can reach out to talk about HIV

ii) Make a simple handphone video - it can be about *anything* at all - and send the youtube link to <a href"mailto:wadup@syinc.org">wadup@syinc.org [We are trying to get more videos than blogs in because it's more interesting to look at! Do give this a shot if you feel up to it]

iii) Or, write a short post on your thoughts about HIV. Then, send it to <a href"mailto:wadup@syinc.org">wadup@syinc.org with your name, age, occupation, and mobile.

The outcome of this project is for people to become more sensitive to the human-ness of HIV, that the people who are HIV+ are still human beings and should deserve basic human respect. Of course, things like mindset change take a long time, but we hope to plant some seeds through this month. :)
